Comic #23 “Chaos Is On The Menu”

Happy Memorial Day everybody, from Dead of Summer…

This week jumpstarts the end of our flashback, as the traveling crew of Marty look to be doomed…what will happen?  Well, keep your eyes here, and you’ll see.

Eagle eyed readers may have noticed some special zombies in last friday’s edition, and you’ll be seeing more from them, as it was our friends in Karmella’s Game.  They’ll be popping up again during this week, as they head into their big CD release show on Friday at the Ottobar.  Finally releasing their full-length album The Art of Distraction, it’ll be them, fellow friends of DoS Avec, Second Saturday, and Pash.  We at Dead of Summer will be in attendance, as our artist Nick (aka Ghostfreehood) will be selling zombie prints of both Karmella’s Game and Avec, which will be exclusive to Friday’s show.  If you’re there, be sure to pick them up, as it may be your only chance!

The excitement doesn’t end there though, as we’ll be at the Sidebar on Saturday for another CD release show as Assassinate Caesar! will release their album The Fiction Ploy.  Again, we’ll both be in attendance, as Nick not just designed the flyer for the show, but also designed a future t-shirt for the band.  That should just add to what will be a great weekend of shows, and if you’re in the area, we both definately recommend you check it out.  And by all means, say Hi.  We won’t bite.

Speaking of weekends, it was another exciting one behind the scenes.  Outside of the excitement of seeing X-Men early on Friday, we hit up Balticon on Saturday, where it was our pleasure to sit in on the webcomic panel.  The panel was headed by the creators of Anthem (Adie Victor), Not Quite Wrong (Ross Nover), Fragile Gravity (Barb Fischer), and Leftville Comics (Jerry Stephens).  Thanks again for the great panel guys, and thanks for taking the time to talk with us after the panel.  All of their comics are really rad, and we definately recommend you check them out.

Now that I’m rambling, I think its time to wrap this post up.  We’ll be back on Wednesday, of course.  Until then, hit up the forums, stalk us on myspace, and stay classy.
