Comic #2.12 “Best Laid Plans…”

A new week dawns with a new Dead of Summer. Today we find out some of the dark secrets of Dr. Alan Stone, which will start to explain some of the odd things occurring in the zoo.

It was quite the fantastic weekend for us at DoS, highlighted with the jawdroppingly great performance of Explosions in the Sky at the 930 Club. I’ll let Nick’s words paint the picture, as he put it best….

explosions_livebig.jpgEvery once in a while you see a show that makes you think “where you were when those things happen.” I was there to witness a sold out 9:30 club show for this band. Not only was it special for that reason but the emotion that band is responsible for bringing to the surface is amazing. It’s the soundtrack to sooth the sorrow for the coming apocalypse not to mention the actual apocalypse at the same time. Realizing a band like this is getting that huge, lets me know there is room for a whole lot more in this world then just bullshit, lies and doubt. There’s love, consequence and beauty and I am not afraid.”

For those of you who’d want to experience the next best thing to having been at this show, interestingly enough, NPR was at the show, broadcasting it live, and it’s available to listen to for free right here. Definitely recommend you check it out.

Sunday was also a big day for us, as we started plotting out everything for the rest of 2007. We now have a VERY updated appearances page, including 2 more con announcements, and we should have some very exciting news on Dead of Summer: Book One (which will now be extended with some extra sections), NEW t-shirts, and a reprint of the popular ZomBELIEVE design.

How awesome is all of that? Awesome enough to come back on Wednesday I hope. See you kids then!

Damn. I didn’t know you guys were at the Explosions show. I agree with your statement about the show. It was on the verge of being so surreal that I wasn’t sure if what I was experiencing was a dream or reality…

  2. Marty Says:

Robby, you were there too? Ah damn, wish I had known.

But yeah, Nick and I are HUGE fans of Explosions in the Sky. I know that in both of our cases, EitS is really our go-to music when it comes to working on things, be it writing in my case, or drawing/painting in his.

Seriously, they’re now a top 5 live band for me. Here’s hoping they’re around soon again.

Small freakin world. Yeah, I went to the show and didn’t see my friends? It seems impossible these days.
