When creating a ninja turtles movie in this day and age it seems they wanted to do something fresh with all the goods. No Shredder but there were lots of nods to him. You had new monsters and new characters along with the Foot. It was a TMNT movie with more of it’s comic format. I felt it was a strong B+. It should have defenitly grabbed a younger audience while it held the older crowd. I would recommend this film.
I was pretty disappointed with the turtles movie too, the fight scenes were pretty cool, and it had casey jones, but the plot was weak and there were other down sides….still it was better than turtles 3
As a rule I don’t go to theaters much anymore. I don’t have a desire to see anything so badly that I’ll allow myself to get raped to stuff the pockets of studio execs. No matter my excitement level I generally just wait until it hits cable. That said, there is one thing that could drag me to see a new turtles movie in the theaters. Usagi FUCKING Yojimbo. Anything else is just more of the same.
They certainly did leave enough room for a sequel, what with cryptic last words and such. It was kind of nice that April wasn’t all damsel-in-distressy…but yeah her butt-kicking was a tad surprising.
The film was entertaining but if I don’t see it again before I die I don’t think I’ll be too put out. And I most likely won’t go see the sequel in the theaters if it’s made.
I could sit here and say that I WON’T go see it if a sequel comes out, but here I am, considering seeing a Fantastic Four sequel, simply because the trailer was awesome, DESPITE the fact that the first was an incredibly large PoS.
So yeah, I’d probably be in for a Shredder based sequel…despite my indifference to this one. I’m such a consumer whore.

Now here’s the question…
The movie made 25 mil this weekend, nearly it’s entire budget (which was 34 mil). This basically guarantees a sequel.
Should they do one? Or is it best to let the franchise lie, or possibly move into ANOTHER show?
Personally, I might be interested in seeing a sequel featuring a reborn Shredder…
And Matt, you’re right, Casey Jones was a definite highlight.
Btw, when did April become all kung-fu fighty?
