Mega Man Rock Opera stars, general freedom fighters and friends of Dead of Summer The Protomen are back in the news this morning.  Over the past month, their website has featured a countdown to June 1st, causing fans, friends and foes alike to speculate what exactly the the counter was leading up to.

At the strike of midnight, all was revealed.

Teaming up with longtime show mates Makeup and Vanity Set, The Protomen will be releasing an 8-bit remix album, featuring NES styled remixes of every track featured on their self-titled debut.

You can check out a few tracks on Makeup and Vanity Set’s myspace here, and they sound pretty great.  Ever the advantageous hype makers, Protomen.com now features a second countdown, leading to July 1st.  More on that (and other interesting Proto-news) when we come to it. Stay tuned.
