Battles, Ottobar and more.

July 17th, 2007 by Ghostfreehood!

Composed of ex-Helmet drummer John Stanier, ex-Don Caballero guitarist Ian Williams, ex-Lynx guitarist Dave Konopka, and Tyondai Braxton (son of avant-garde jazz musician Anthony Braxton), Battles is a math rock band that will be melting your damn brain Saturday night, July 21st at the Ottobar.

If I weren’t knee deep in Otakon festivities this weekend, I would be all about this show. Doors at 9. Show at 10. All ages.

This is actually one of many, many wondrous things going on this weekend. Besides Battles and Otakon, Artscape will be in full force. The headlining musical guest for Artscape this year will be Reggae legend Burning Spear. I just wish Morris Day and the Time could be there every year. God, it was so good.

Honestly though, what concert SHOULDN’T have Morris Day and the Time every single time?

Otakon should book them every year.

Sure, Morris isn’t considered Asian Culture now, but once his black man servant Jerome gets finished, The Time will be considered experts in Asian Culture!
