Attn: Mr. Robert Kirkman
July 28th, 2007 by Marty
I know that I have zero room to give advice (as I’m simply the writer of a moderately/vaguely successful zombie webcomic), but I read something from the SDCC ‘07 coverage that I wanted to comment upon.
Kirkman talked about his three ongoing Image Comics titles, starting with The Walking Dead. “In celebration of issue #50, I’m trying to get rid of as many characters as possible,” the writer said. “I’m thinking about killing everyone, I don’t know how people will feel about that.”
Speaking as a fellow zombie writer who celebrated the end of an arc by doing ALMOST the same…Come on, Robert! Do it! Your characters are all missing limbs and getting whiny anyway. I’ve long said, if writing these characters got boring, I’d kill ‘em all off and start fresh, as the universe is really the draw…Mr. Kirkman, you’re far more talented than I…I think you can make it happen. DO IT.
