Hey! The Comic’s Now Up!

August 17th, 2007 by Marty

Again, I apologize for the delay, but Comic #2.73 is now up for your enjoyment.

For whatever reason, I feel like talking about the creative process, so here goes…

One of the more striking things with today’s comic, is I really kinda get into the southern style diction for Commander.  There’s a few reasons for it.

Firstly, Commander’s first appearance toward Nick and William was that of an antagonist…he wanted supplies from them, that’s it.  It was Panther of the Protomen who invited them along, so I figure he’d be appropriately miffed (being as he’s COMMANDER and all).

Secondly, knowing the Protomen are from Nashville in real life (CONTINUITY FLAW: HOW DID THEY GET TO BALTIMORE!?!?! Answer? Magic.) , I figured writing a bit southern would be appropriate…

Thirdly, we’ve never had the “questionable partner” component in Dead of Summer.  All zombie movies have the Asshole, the one character who lives to give the main character shit, and his motives are kinda shady.  The closest we’ve had to this is Dr. Alan Stone, but I write him more from the jealous boyfriend side of my brain (let’s be honest, we’ve all been there)…I figure an antagonist in the party, distrusting Nick and William will make for greater tension…we’ll see how it goes.

Welp, I’m not sure why I rambled about all that, but I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you enjoy today’s comic. Have a great weekend, folks!

Obviously the Protomen are riding up and down the East Coast (probably on totally boss hogs) in search of supplies. I wouldn’t call that magic. Just badass.

    ZING!
