Girl Talk in Baltimore
September 7th, 2007 by Ghostfreehood!Popular for his super-ultra mash ups, Greg Gillis or his more popular name: Girl Talk will be kicking out the jams on September 18th. Figure when you sample a bunch of songs to make a “new” song , people would look down on that. I mean, look what it did for Vanilla Ice with the Talking Heads and KC and the Sunshine Band. Ouch, Iceman was burned twice. Sampling and/or copying is a funny thing sometimes. Not that Girly Gillis is like Vanilla Ice. Just a bad reference on my part. Let me try that again.
Girl Talk will get the party started in no time flat. If your lucky, people will follow his example and start taking of their clothes during mid set. I don’t really listen to a lot of DJ’s but this guy does his thing, and he does it right. Your jaw will drop at all the material that goes into one song. There is no way you will be able to name all the songs in the mash ups he puts together. He uses everything from indie rock to gangsta rap, classic rock to classical and more. I suggest you try to keep track. By the time you think you have it under control, you come across a sample you don’t know. Confused and trying to identify, you look forward to the next sample. You realize by that time you are already dancing. No way you can keep up. You just have to let go. He’s got you right there. Girl Talk is capable of stealing your reality and turning it into a party. Now that is amazing.
