Winter Wonder Boys
December 25th, 2007 by Ghostfreehood!Every winter for the last six years, I always have a sit down with one of my favorite films of all time: Wonder Boys. It’s fun because it celebrates being lost in a transition right before you find what you need to continue living prosperously. This comedic movie scrambles each character’s motives in such a way that you almost can’t believe the innocence each possesses. Killing, theft, drugs, love affairs and depression work themselves out in an unique story about a professor/writer who has writers block. With his publisher coming to visit, the professor finds that his book in question is no greater than the last seven years of his chaotic life.
Now, I’m not here to review a movie that’s been out since the year 2000. I just wanted to recommend a great film that has never left me since I’ve discovered it. If your looking for something to view that you’ve never seen before, this could be for you. At times you may think this movie is miserable but one thing is certain. You’ll never stop laughing. It’s fun, messy and while featuring a trunk that fits a tuba, suitcase, trash bag and a dead dog almost pefectly, it’s quite thrilling. I have just found this interview about the film on the Charlie Rose show. It was great to see Micheal Douglas, Francis McDormand and Toby Maguire talk about their characters with it’s director Curtis Hanson around the round table discussion.
The interview last half of the shows running time. It’s an hour long program but the first half hour is dedicated to Wonder Boys. Also you can click the image at the top of this post to watch the trailer!
(Edit: Oops. I forgot that the trailer roles right before you watch the interview as well.)
