Del Toro on The Hobbit

As exciting as it was to think about Guillermo Del Toro making the final Harry Potter film, when I heard the Hobbit news I knew this made more sense. Not that I wouldn’t want to see Del Toro’s Potter. It’s just that for the final installment, he might not be what fans are expecting. Something as experimental like that could be, it’s a risky chance to take for a franchises final note. If it were one of the earlier Harry Potter films it would be more exceptable. At least, if it didn’t sit well with the Potter fanbase, you’d still have time to please the Potter universe with another film. It wouldn’t matter to me. Guillermo could serve me soup out of a shoe and I’d think it was classy.

It’s good to know that with The Hobbit, Peter Jackson and Guillermo will be overseeing the script on the project. Apparently when Jackson went to New Line Cinema, this was a road that eventually seemed inevitable to explore. I also heard that Andy Serkis’ role as Gollum will be honored. That makes me wonder who else would want to reprise their roles as well. Not to mention the thought of where Doug Jones might appear. Of course, the decision of Guillermo directing The Hobbit isn’t final as of yet. Although it seems Del Toro thinks it might be likely.

Meanwhile, it’s time to take the Hobbits to Isengard.
