Horror’s New Hero? Meet Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
March 18th, 2008 by Ghostfreehood! After a little homework, I’ve stumbled across what happens to be an amazingly anticipated flick: Jack Brooks-Monster Slayer! This film looks very promising. It’s indie horror/comedy genre label is something to look forward to with this flick, not push you away.
After film festival screenings in the past few months around the indie circuit, the film’s release seems to be pushed back due to Anchor Bay picking up the title. Release of JB:MS is speculated for a late summer early/fall release in theaters, which is prime horror movie time. A review of the film that was posted on Fear.net even prepossess that Trevor Mathews who plays Jack could be potentially be the next “Ash!” Comparisons to Evil Dead and other great horror films of the era are risky but believable given JB:MS stays true to the heart of the great films most of us grew up with.
One of the main things about this film that really peaks my interests is the fact that the film says NO to CGI. All laytex monsters are go! My main quarrel with horror and fantasy films these days is the lack of laytex. It’s good to know that something great like the promise of this film is around the corner. Here’s hoping that people will start paying attention and we can start getting back to quality monster movies.
Watch the trailer! You’ll be glad you did.
