Much like the Wye Oak tree, the band has it’s roots planted in Baltimore and is reaching out to claim history. Having just recently signed to Merge Records to join the ranks of bands like Spoon, Arcade Fire, Dinosaur Jr and Caribou, Wye Oak the band is a 2 piece that sounds like much, much more. The indie duo ignites a spark quick to assemble a fire that promises to burn up the world to lead it to a rebirth. If not the world, their world.

The future looks very bright for Wye Oak. If you don’t want to listen to me, the many positive reviews and insights will catch up to you. It’s only a matter of time. They play with fire and they illuminate the strings in the static well. Soothing and melodic, Wye Oak speaks truth to generations in their music and even in the echoes, looses you in a state of total embrace. It’s loving chaos at times.

Catch them on myspace and read one of their many great reviews. They may be young but they will be old pros rather soon. You can catch their CD Release show Thursday, April 10th at The G Spot here in Baltimore. For a list of reviews and Wye Oak news click here for their website.
