Art Fight is done but the war is far from over.

So, I got to admit Art Fight was pretty cool. Of course I’m gonna say that but seriously, it was. It was a free display of comic arts being summoned on demand to create a battle between two robots. How does that not sound cool? Anyway, putting the Fonz treatment on the side for the moment, let’s start from the beginning and build up to victory, shall we?
Gathering of cool folks to aid in you objective? Check!
So after we found out that streaming online would not take effect, there was nothing to do but film and wait. There is something very, very raw and organic in sharing an intimate setting while creating anything. I’m sorry we could not share the experience live online but hopefully next time we’ll be on top and have that shit on lock down.
Make sure you and your opponent start drawing on time. The Fight started at 9pm and lasted until 11. It’s hard to believe we accomplished what we did in two hours. Exhaustion was sure setting in towards the end but, I wanted to make sure we were finished before MC Chris went on that night. Two reasons why. One, the upstairs DJ was loud. Which for us, was totally fucking awesome. I was able to get into the zone with no problem except when he started playing late 80’s cheese-ball slow jams out of nowhere. Really, what the hell was that about anyway? Next time we get our own jams to ensure the ultimate quality in Art Fight might. The second reason was MC Chris. He totally did not want us around. Originally we were billed downstairs in the venue that night to be a side feature of the show. He wasn’t having any part of it. Oh well. Sucks for him. We rocked that shit. It was awesome. What wasn’t awesome was the Chris called us lame while he was on stage. God damn it. I finished early so I could watch the show and be a fan like anyone else and MC Chris calls you lame. That fucking blows.
When doing an Art Fight, you also want to make sure you attack your opponents work. I hit Jami with some hearts to give his artbot some love for his battle. Take that masculinity. Your robot fights like a girl! He later turned the hearts into missiles which was pretty cool. However that didn’t stop me. I went back in and colored them black which gave the objects their original heart shapes back. I’d say I earned some points there if we were counting.
Oh, hey. People are sticking around! Awesome. Oh snap. Oh shit, they look tough.
After some brutal art violence and some serious penmanship, victory was achieved on both fronts. My goal from the beginning was to create a fight. I’d say that was achieved. Although next time a victor will be chosen.
Next time there will be polish and a finish that will be oh so pretty. Your eyes will scream with glee, people will cheer and applause will fill the air. Oh wait…that totally happened. There will be a next time. If I had to make a prediction, I’d say this could be the beginning of something very cool. The image above is something a room full of people help create and Jami and myself were just the vehicles. You chose the topics. You came out to support us. This fight is yours. I will always be here to fight for you. You can count on that.
Look for the video soon. Thanks to everyone who made the night. I had a blast. I look forward to our next battle.

I had a great time dude, even if MC Chris got his panties in a knot.
And I’d just like to say that the blond chick who I was sitting near who knew you and drew the roller coaster of death with cute pink bunnies card was hot.

I wish I could have been there, but I was stuck trying to overcome some sort of mystery illness that causes liquids to ooze from my face.

…And that will be your new name, Goldbug. Face Ooze. Now transform and roll out.

Art fight was so rad. Loved the style, nothing like bigass sharpies to make art that much better. The fight was very reminiscent of what would happen in my high school classes way back 4 years ago or whatever it was.
A friend and myself would play the “Draw 4 tanks on one side of paper, draw dots, fold paper to color dots on opponents side to hit tanks” game….if anyone has ever heard/played that….well, who ever won would always claim victory on the piece of paper, only to have victory shattered by robot jesus or flying giraffes with lasers or something like that. Then it would be a war of art back and forth until the bell
Either way, this was an excellent show. I caught the last 2 audience picks and then headed to MC when the red was starting to get put on. All in all, very excellent!!! Deadofsummer and Angryzenmaster got a new fan outta it as well.
PS. I commented to someones wife (can’t remember if it was you or jami) that the boards should all be photoshopped together…I believe I would have a totally sweet background on my computer for a very long time!

I’ll see what I can do about the photoshop. The canvas’ are being kept in Virginia so that might be a little hard to do. I would love to have that as well. Glad you enjoyed yourself though. There will be another Art Fight sometime in the near future. We are in the process of planning all the details now.
It’s going to be bigger so next time, you’ll be at the show downstairs and still be able to see the fight at the sametime.
Thanks for checking it out, and the feedback. It’s much appreciated.
Art Fight High School just sounds really freaking catchy now that I think about it.
If I ever had a manga, I think that would have to be the title. Damn well believe there would be a tank in there somewhere.
Thanks again, dude.
