Along Came a New Alice Cooper Album
October 2nd, 2008 by Ghostfreehood!Alice Cooper is back with the concept album Along Came a Spider. You gotta love Alice. He’s still out there doing his thing. When the scenster kids are unknowingly wearing echoes of fashion he pursued, you stand and applaud. If their parents never told them, they may not know. Take that you screamo-conditioned sissy boy. Know your roots!
On this record, Alice is a psychopath that is murdering girls for their legs to create a human-sexy legged spider. Why? Well, that’s just the kind of showman Alice Cooper is. The video above features 3 songs from the album that are reported to carry the story on their own. Having watched the video, I must admit he can still make a good music video. Slash appears on one of the tracks too. He’s just wandering the halls of a mental hospital rocking out. You know, casual Slash. My guitar solo and sleep walk style will rip your stupid face off, Slash approach. It fucking makes a damn music video, kids! Watch and learn.
The production is pretty sweet too. You get to see Alice strangle some nurses, which is always fun. While filming the video, an earthquake happened and the band didn’t even know. The best part is, the quake hit while the strangling was happening. Crazy. Alice wouldn’t have it any other way. The track Vengeance is Mine, sounds like the radio single. The sound is geared towards modern radio but it’s still Alice so don’t worry, he’s not selling out. From what I can tell, the rest of the album sounds just like old Alice Cooper. You gotta love that.
In a world where music is cookie cutter, Alice Cooper remains true to the meaning. His live shows are unlike any other I’ve ever seen. Where else can you see a rockstar kill himself onstage, hold up his own head and reemerge from a chamber filled with electricity? Rob Zombie has never done it and there is a reason. He knows Alice has been there for years.
